How to welcome the Pisces New Moon ~ Where endings become beginnings
March 18th: PST 18:23 | EST 21:23 | March 19th: GMT 01:23
The new moon in Pisces arrives to cleanse, renew and revive as we begin a new lunar cycle. Carrying the first stirrings of springtime, this new moon helps us close one era and begin another. Let’s dive in together…
In this blog we’ll explore:
- Ways to honour the Pisces New Moon
- Prompts for working with your journal
- Key dates for this lunar cycle
A new moon at the end of the astrological year, right before the spring equinox, brings a dual energy. Just as the fish depicted by the sign of Pisces swim in opposite directions, this new moon asks us to step into the duality and gentle overlap of one cycle ending while another begins. It invites us to look ahead, while still honouring what we have learned over the past astrological year.
The water sign of Pisces encourages us to swim the depths of our intuition, quieten the mind and listen to the whispers of the soul. Here we can connect to our emotional self and release any fears that may be holding us back. This new moon’s ancient ruler, Jupiter - now in direct motion - is providing supportive energy from Cancer, helping us carve out an intuitive path forward. Mars and Mercury continue to chart their way through Piscean waters, giving this new moon and the lunar cycle that follows a felt sense of purpose and direction.

Sharper Vision
Mercury’s retrograde in Pisces is due to end just after the new moon, signalling that our minds can begin to clear. An aspect to Uranus is also in the mix, so perhaps we can hope not only for sharper vision but also for a few unexpected breakthroughs during this lunar cycle.
The new moon is also making an out-of-sign conjunction with Saturn and Neptune, both still initiating us into their way of channelling Aries energy. We might see this as a gentle reminder that the deep dive of Pisces season, and what we release, can help clear the way for the new beginnings waiting just around the corner.
Peace of Mind
Pisces energy will always encourage us to go within so that we can emerge refreshed and ready for what comes next. If you are feeling that a new start is needed, let yourself welcome this new moon as the deep dive before spring arrives, an opportunity to let one cycle flow into the next with emotional awareness, creativity and peace of mind.
Ways to work with the New Moon in Pisces:
- Take time to reflect: What is ending or culminating now? What is ready to be released or gently let go of? Allow space in your schedule for meditation, journaling or simply sitting quietly with these questions.
- Celebrate the spirit of Pisces: Let your imagination and creativity flow. What helps you feel inspired or connected to your creativity? Soften into this a little more; no pressure, simply allow the flow.
- Honour Jupiter: Jupiter’s influence over this new moon can help us welcome abundance and expand our dreams and visions for the year ahead. You might wish to add an orange candle to your altar, or perhaps a citrine or orange calcite crystal, to acknowledge the optimistic, expansive energy of this planet.
- Be intentional with your intuitive practices: Which practices over the last astrological year have helped you tune into your intuition? Perhaps it’s working with the lunar cycle, using oracle cards, or journaling. Remember to carry the most supportive ones with you into the new year.
- Enjoy a simple New Moon ritual: Set aside some quiet time to work with this new moon. Light a candle, sit with your journal and reflect on what you are ready to release. You may also wish to set gentle intentions for what you would like spring to bring.
