November’s powerful New Moon arrives at the heart of Scorpio season, a time that calls us towards introspection, release and the magic of personal alchemy. This New Moon marks the start of a lunar cycle that welcomes the end of both Venus and Mercury retrograde and lifts us towards Sagittarius season. Let’s explore how tuning in can help provide the stamina we need for the next few weeks…
In this blog, we’ll unpack:
- What the New Moon in Scorpio symbolises
- Ways to welcome the New Moon in Scorpio, including prompts for working with your journal
- Key dates for this lunar cycle
What the New Moon in Scorpio symbolises
Ruled by Mars in ancient astrology and Pluto in modern astrology, Scorpio welcomes the process of inner change through full self-acceptance of both light and shadow. This passionate, determined, mystical water sign is unafraid to look beneath the surface to shed what is no longer needed.
As a sign that likes to uncover what lies beneath, we can invite Scorpio energy to help us explore our deepest parts. To work with a Scorpio New Moon is to look within. This Moon has the potential to show us what is shifting now – but to do this we need to welcome the truth that enables deep transformation.

How can I tune into the New Moon in Scorpio?
The New Moon carries fiery energy – not only because its ancient ruler is the warrior planet Mars – but when we look to where Mars is currently, the planet is squaring the Moon in the fire sign of Leo. When Mars is in Leo, the planet is confident and full of gusto! This adds a surge of power to an already potent Moon. Jupiter, also in Leo, is amplifying this energy, creating more heat.
As the New Moon arrives, be mindful of emotions rising or things feeling a little more intense. If we can appreciate that this New Moon is giving us the stamina we need to work through the end of the Venus and Mercury retrogrades, there's an opportunity to channel this energy productively, without burning ourselves out. Think of this as a final push towards what your intuition has been trying to clarify for you since the beginning of October (when Venus turned retrograde).
As this all takes place – Pluto, modern ruler of Scorpio, is speaking to Uranus in a conversation that peaked earlier this year. As these planets start to make an exact trine once again, it suggests that some kind of liberation or awakening is calling. With Pluto involved, this won’t be without some kind of excavation – and this New Moon offers a signpost to the change that might be needed up ahead.
Bear in mind – both Venus and Mercury retrograde finish mid-November. If you’ve found the last five weeks intense or more challenging around relationships or communication, or both – it will be a helpful time to come up for air and take a view.
Meanwhile…

Five ways to work with the New Moon in Scorpio:
- And breathe... if the retrogrades have felt intense, or maybe the shorter days are taking time to adjust to, put the ‘to-do’ list down and ground yourself.
- Make time for an energy check-in: If energy feels high around this New Moon, take a walk or enjoy some kind of physical activity to blow off steam. If energy feels lower, enjoy some quiet time. Be truthful with yourself about where you’re at and what you need.
- Consider what has shifted for you: Take some time to reflect on what has recently shifted in your life and what may have come to light, as well as any change you’re beginning to feel ready for.
- Embrace your magical side: What helps you to strengthen your connection with yourself and the universe? If you enjoy divination, moon rituals or working with energy, allow yourself to embrace the mystical and intuitive.
- Attend a New Moon gathering or create one: It’s powerful to set New Moon intentions alone, but as a circle, it can feel even more meaningful. Celebrate with your trusted connections.
