September’s Harvest Moon ~ Gathering wisdom for the road ahead
26th September: PDT 09:49 | EDT 12:49 | BST 17:49
September’s Full Moon is the first Full Moon after the equinox, known as the Harvest Moon. After the intensity of the August eclipses and the shift into Libra season, it brings a fiery focus back to how we assert ourselves, how we move forward and what we need to let go of to do it. Are you ready to welcome this Full Moon’s magic? Let’s find out…
In this blog, we’ll explore:
- The symbolism of the Aries Full Moon
- Ways to work with this Full Moon
- Journal prompts for reflection
The symbolism of the Aries Full Moon
The sign of Aries is the first stop on the astrological calendar and can be thought of as the initiator of the zodiac. Everything about this sign points to new beginnings, determination and focus. Ruled by assertive Mars, this sign can make things happen!
However, Aries energy also tends to jump in feet first. Courageous yes, but sometimes impulsive and impatient to get moving. When a Full Moon in Aries arrives, it blends the Moon’s gentle, intuitive ebb and flow with an Aries fiery focus. This is where emotions may run high and tempers quicken. An Aries Moon knows what she wants and isn’t going to wait around to get it - she’s leading the charge!

What will this Full Moon in Aries bring?
September’s Full Moon can actually teach us a thing or two about patience. Sandwiched between elusive, visionary Neptune and grounding Saturn, it seems to be coloured by energies that offer us a little breathing space before moving forward. With Mars, this Moon’s ruler, uneasy in the intuitive seascape of Cancer, we may feel the tension between wanting to strive ahead and needing to pause. Whether we see this as a frustrating hold-up or an opportunity to take a breath is up to us.
However, only a few days after the Full Moon, its ruler, Mars, will move into Leo, where the planet is encouraged to shine in all its glory. Rather than rushing forward, we can use this Full Moon to tune into our emotional selves and see what can be released and shed to make way for something new.
This Moon is also in conversation with Pluto and Uranus, suggesting change is in the air, but I believe patience is what is required initially. Perhaps this is a tough challenge for an Aries Full Moon, but maybe this is an opportunity to take a moment to reflect on our own needs before plotting the next move.

Ways to work with the Full Moon in Aries ~
- Make space for self-care: If this first Full Moon after eclipse season feels intense, alleviate pressure and create space in your schedule where you can.
- Listen to your body: If the energy feels high, do some physical activity, clear your mind and find your focus. Or, if you feel tired, slow down and rest. Remember any intense energy will pass.
- Connect to your inner wisdom: Where does your focus need to be right now? Do you feel in tune with your own needs and/or the boundaries you hold with others? Take time to contemplate this or journal to find clarity.
- Surrender what no longer serves you with a full moon ritual: Make a list of what you’d like to release, gather your trusted circle around a fire pit and, taking care, safely burn your release lists under the light of the moon.
If you’d like to explore journaling under this Moon, here are some prompts to guide you. Or, if you’d like an image to inspire you, Hayley’s Aries Zodiac print beautifully captures the Aries energy.
